Maruti A-Star and Ritz to be replaced by a single small car!
Maruti A-Star which is known as the Suzuki Alto; and Maruti Ritz which is called the Suzuki Splash in international markets will soon be replaced by a single small car. It is reported that due to slow sales of these cars the company has planned to bring out a fuel efficient and specious small car for global markets by 2014. The new Suzuki small car will have Ritz's space and A Star's fuel efficiency. In International markets the new Suzuki small car will be a rigid rival of Honda Brio.
It is expected that already displayed Suzuki Concept G70, called the Regina would be a single replacement of these small cars. On the other hand, the Japanese auto major is also working on a facelift version of the popular premium hatchback, Swift that would also be launched by early next year. On global stage it will be a direct rival of Nissan Note. Apart this, a small car crossover based on the recently launched SX4 will also be thrown.
In Indian auto market, Maruti A-Star is being offered with 1L petrol engine along with both manual and automatic transmission system choices. All the variants of the vehicle are being offered between Rs 3.80 lakh to Rs 4.60 lakh. Meanwhile, the roomy hatchback Ritz is being offered with 1.2L petrol and 1.3L diesel engine options. Its petrol model is available with manual and automatic transmission system options. The Ritz including 5 variants of petrol model and 4 variants of diesel version; is being sold between Rs 4.32 lakh to Rs 6.33 lakh in Indian auto market.
