Maruti cars dearer by up to Rs 20,000 from today
The increasing manufacturing costs and high fluctuation in the value of Indian Rupee have made many car makers to raise the prices of their car models. One amongst them is India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI). The car maker has hiked its car prices by up to Rs. 20,000. Going in sync with MSI, car makers like General Motors India and Hyundai will also be raising their car prices this month. In December 2012, Maruti had already given its consumers a hint that its car prices are likely to go up by 1 to 3 percent. Hence, the hike by up to Rs. 20000 wasn’t a sudden surprise for anyone. All cars of Maruti Suzuki including Maruti Swift hatchback, Maruti Swift Dzire compact sedan, Maruti Ertiga MPV, Maruti SX4 sedan, and Maruti Ritz hatchback will now be sold in the Indian car bazaar with amplified price tags.
On the other hand, if we talk about the price rise of Hyundai Motors, the car maker will be raising the prices by the same amount as Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai is expected to increase prices by the end of this month. The altered prices of Hyundai will come into effect latest by 1st February 2013. And models ranging from Hyundai Eon, Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20 to high class Hyundai Santa Fe will see a price rise. GM India is also in similar plans, and is likely to increase its car prices by1 to 3 percent.
Coming back to Maruti’s price rise, another reason for the augmented costs of Maruti cars is that it pays a certain amount of percentage to Suzuki for utilizing its technology. Apart from Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai, General Motors, other luxury car makers like BMW, Audi etc have already increased their car prices.
