Maruti diesel car's waiting list reaches 1.25 lakh units

At the moment, festive charisma in the Indian auto sector is making the car buyers and carmakers dance on their toes in merriment. Near about every carmaker is trying to lure customers this season with some or the other tactics; be it new launch, facelift or addition of newer variants to the armory. But one carmaker is such that has done least preparation for this money-making period and still is the busiest of the lot. Yes, you are right; it’s Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). Believe it or not, it has got an incredible waiting list of about 1.25 lakh diesel vehicles and this number continues to ascend every passing day.

Although to cater this huge diesel wait the company has started working in double shifts and has scaled up the production to meet the customer expectation. The soaring prices of petrol fuel put up a very adverse effect on the consumer preference list as they were forced to switch to diesel cars, which gave birth to this chaos. For Maruti, this hustle started with the launch of feature-filled New Swift hatch in August last year. The things were about to get in control, but with the launch compact sedan New Maruti Swift Dzire at lucrative price the bookings again piled up and this time too, the consumer interest was diesel variants of Swift Dzire.

Amid this ‘book-wait-deliver’ period, Indo-Japan auto firm slipped-in its inaugural compact MPV named Maruti Ertiga, which was projected to be a risky move by experts. But in contrast, it was yet another clean sweep for Maruti as it spread-out like a wild fire; again prolonged waiting label was affixed on diesel variants. It’s not only diesel that’s spinning magic for Maruti. With the recent launch of Maruti Alto 800 that has no diesel trim to offer but petrol, it had managed to book around 25,000 units in mere 7-8 days of launch. This zeros you on the thought that supremacy and dominance starts with Maruti and ends with Maruti only, making it a master of all ‘possible’ traits.
