Maruti introducing AMT technology in upcoming Celerio
The upcoming hatchback from Maruti Suzuki, the Celerio (codenamed as YZ 7) which will replace A-Star and Zen Estilo from flagship of MSIL, will be equipped with automatic manual transmission system (AMT). MSIL the Indian arm of Japanese car giant Suzuki motors is promoting this technology (AMT) as EZ DRIVE, which will be used in Indian car market for first time.
According to industry experts integration of AMT enhances the fuel efficiency of vehicle as compared to regular manual transmission system and using the same in Celerio will enhance its efficiency about five percent. Talking about AMT, it is a clutchless transmission with manual gears and is developed by Magneti Marelli. It is based on the combination of electronic control unit and hydraulic system which controls the working of clutch and gear shifting, facilitating the driver to change gear without making use of clutch.
The Celerio will be bestowed with 1.0 litre K series three cylinder engine which at present is adhered in Alto K10 and outgoing A-Star. It is expected to make its first look during the upcoming Indian Auto Expo.
