Maruti lines up new cars to plaster the losses

Maruti Suzuki, India’s dominant car maker has suffered heavy production and sales losses due to steady labor strike at its Manesar based plant over the year, is now planning to bring out a set of new small cars for the very first time in domestic market to fine-tune everything.

This will be for the very first time that Maruti will be launching small cars of 660 cc engine, which are also known as Kei cars in Japan. The models are named Palette and MR wagon, are to be first displayed in Auto Expo 2012 to see the viewer’s response.

These upcoming models will certainly fetch a boom in the small car segment which was initiated by Tata Nano in India and soon Renault Nissan too will be throwing its smallest car. So the next big thing to happen in Indian automotive industry is a bang in small car segment.

While the impending MR wagon looks alike Maruti Zen Estilo, Suzuki Palette has got an atypical design, but nothing can be predicted over the response, as price mattered and matters.

The company has claimed it to be a better performer than other of its competition, Mayank Pareek, executive officer, marketing and sales said “Though they are powered by tiny 660 petrol engines, they are not low labeled as a Nano”

Maruti has also reported to flaunt an SUV, designed by a team of Indian and Japanese engineers at an RD center in India.
