Maruti Manesar plant ready to be on fire again- workers union proposes hunger strike, rally
The Manesar crisis is over but it still irks Maruti India. After a month long lockout and severe loss of production of Maruti Swift, Swift Dzire, Maruti SX4 and Maruti A Star, leading to the present over 1.25 lakh pending deliveries, the Manesar plant is heading for an almost same situation. Notably, over 548 workers were sacked by Maruti on various grounds after the crisis in July. Recently, some workers under the banner of Maruti Suzuki Workers' Union (MSWU) have decided to protest in order to get the 548 work back to work. Some Maruti workers will be going on hunger strike at the Deputy commissioner, Gurgaon office tomorrow and there will be a mass rally in Gurgaon on the following day.

It is a worth mentioning that the July-August crisis at Manesar was regarding recognition of a new labor union and now the workers have planned to go on hunger strike in order reinstate the 548 people sacked during the unrest. The labor union has submitted a memorandum to the Haryana Chief Minister in this regard and have already informed about their proposed protest itinerary.

The protesting union has said in its memorandum that Maruti India has been arbitrary in firing employees and a lot of innocent workers were also fired by it. The hunger strike and the protest rally have been organized seeking Maruti to reinstate those workers who were not at all behind the riot like situation at Manesar plant. It is believed that the protesting workers might extend their hunger strike until the state government intervenes and asks Maruti to take some immediate action on the matter. Meanwhile the state government has made adequate arrangements to ascertain peace and harmony during the proposed hunger strike and rally by the workers.
