Maruti raises car prices by upto Rs 5250

In order to shield itself from the heat of the dillydallying rupee value against the dollar, Maruti has raised the price of all its cars in India by upto Rs 5250. The rise has also been attributed to be the result of the rise in input costs. With this all Maruti cars starting from Maruti to the luxury sedan Maruti Kizashi have gone dearer by Rs 2500 to Rs 5250. Though this is a marginal increase and it is expected that it will not have any adverse effect on the sales of its cars in the country. Also, the festive season is ahead and at this time Maruti cars are sizzling hot in demand and car buyers do not consider such a small increase.

The increase was quite imminent and it was a matter of today or tomorrow for the car maker as all other car makers expect Tata has increased the price of their cars in India. Tata has slashed the price of its flagship car Tata Indica by Rs 23,000 and with this it has become quite lucrative. With the price reduction, Tata has also incorporated many changes to the car. The rise in price of the Maruti cars is only marginal and it will not at all adversely impact sales in any manner, said one of the car industry experts. The rise in the price of the entry level models such as Maruti 800, Maruti Omni, Maruti Eeco and others could force car buyers to think once but the price rise will be compensated by the festive season offers by the Maruti car dealers in India.

Meanwhile, amidst the price rise saga, Maruti is preparing a big launch of the small car Maruti Alto 800 on the October 16. This car will in all probability take a price tag between Rs 2.5 lakh to R 3 lakh and will be offered in petrol and CNG models. It will not only help the car maker fetch some quick numbers, it will also help it to recoup the loss the Manesar crisis and the ongoing slump in car industry has made to the car maker.
