Maruti Suzuki And Toyota Developing Hybrid Electric Vehicle

According to recent reports country’s largest car manufacturing company, Maruti Suzuki and the Japanese car maker Toyota Motors Corporation have joined hands to develop hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). These HEV’s will not require any power supply or charging stations on road for charging or road side assistance. The news regarding this was confirmed by Rahul Bharti, Executive Director, Corporate Planning and Government Affairs.
 
 
According to him, the joint venture of Toyota and Suzuki are developing some electric vehicles. In his words, both the companies will start the test drives of these vehicles from next month. Moving ahead, he said that by the time charging infrastructure develops in the country we will need self-charging vehicles.
 
Commenting on the HEV, the sources of Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, the hybrid vehicles are developed on a powerful technology that will exist for next 10-15 years. Moreover as it doesn’t require any support from external charging sources, and therefore offers sufficient levels of reduction in emissions. The parent company of Maruti, the Suzuki Motors has launched the Swace hybrid vehicles in Europe.
 
The upcoming hybrid vehicle will be based on Corolla estate from Toyota Motors, and will receive power from a 3.6 kW battery and a 1.8-litre petrol engine. It is believed to offer an average of 27 kmpl. It reported that the Indo-Japanese car maker will make its entry in the electric vehicle segment in the financial year 2025. The group wants to launch their first electric vehicle in India and then in Japan and the other countries of the entire world. As far as the price of HEV is concerned it would priced $13,700 which in Indian currency will be around Rs 10 lakhs.
