Maruti Suzuki attains 20 per cent hike in June

India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has today stated that it has attained 20.3 % hike June 2012 with recorded sales of 96,579 units. Earlier, in June 2011 the company sold 80,298 units. Added to this, the domestic sales of Maruti Suzuki increased by 19.3 % with the sales of 83,531 (domestic sales in 2011 was 70,020 units). Likewise, the exports from MSIL in June last year were 10,278 that mounted up by 27.13 % recording 13,066 units’ exports.

The total domestic passenger car sales for the company increased by 23.11 %recording sales of 70,977 units in June 2012 compared to sales of 57,653 units in the same month last year. For MSIL, there has been hike of 10.44 % in the mini car segments like Maruti 800, Maruti A star, Maruti Alto and Maruti Wagon R which recorded sales of 38,183 units in June, this year compared to 34,198 unit sales in the corresponding month last year.

Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki recorded 39.32 % hike in the compact segment cars (like Maruti Ritz, Maruti Swift, and Maruti Estilo) with total sales of 22,624 units against 16,239 units in the same month last year. Maruti Swift Dzire sales increased 5 times with the total sales of 13,741 units against 2,486 unit sales in the same month last year.

However, sales of compact sedan Maruti SX4 decreased by 42.78 % registering total sales of 408 units in June 2012 against 713 unit sales in June 2011. Moreover, the premium Maruti Kizashi saloon also witnessed 81.25 % downfall selling mere 6 units in June this year, against 32 unit sales in same month last year.

Amazingly, the utility vehicle segment (includes Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Gypsy and Maruti Grand Vitara) improved significantly with total sales of 5638 units in June this year which was mere 185 units in June 2011.
