The Manesar crisis that has set in tremors among the management of the Maruti Suzuki is almost over now and the production of the Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire is fast catching up pace. Amidst the restoration, the Suzuki management is introspecting the reasons that resulted in the spur the violence. Suzuki Motor Corporation chairman Osamu Suzuki who is on a visit to India has said that the car company is finding what really was the cause of dissatisfaction among the workers. Suzuki met the Haryana Chief minister and discussed with him the future action plan. Meanwhile, reports are coming in that Maruti could be focusing more on its plant upcoming in Gujarat rather than expanding capacity of the violence habitual Manesar plant. Notably, the plant was closed down due to the strike by workers in 2011 and now recently as well it remained closed down.
Suzuki has told media personnel that Maruti has remained as the largest car maker in the country and it has no plans to shutdown its operations at Manesar plant rather it will be made extensive and another plant is also coming up at Mehsana Gujarat. However, experts believe that Maruti will now be focusing more on Mehsana plant and will be making it more prominent as far as the export oriented and popular models are concerned. Maruti is expected to produce Maruti Ertiga, Maruti A Star as well as Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire at Mehsana.
The new plant will attract an additional investment of 4000 crore and it will be operational in 2014-15. Meanwhile, Suzuki has met the Chief Minister of Haryana to discuss the onslaught at Manesar and the reason behind it. The Chief Minister has assured Suzuki that the government will be extending every possible help to restore the production to normal. The auto industry was abuzz with speculations that Maruti will be closing down the Manesar plant permanently and will be shifting production to Gujarat but the Haryana Chief Minister has condemned all such reports and terms them as baseless.
