Maruti Suzuki Continues It’s Maintenance Shutdown

Country’s leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has further extended its maintenance shutdown till May 16, 2021. In its earlier notice the Indo-Japanese had announced the maintenance shutdown amidst the pandemic until May 9, 2021. This is not clear whether this shutdown is due to safety reasons or due to decrease in demand of the vehicles. As an impact of the coronavirus the demand for the passenger vehicles declined to the lowest level during six year. According to sales statistics revealed by the auto industry with an increase in the number of cases in recent times the sales of passenger vehicles has further declined.

Analyzing its sales figures for the month of April 2021, the Maruti Suzuki recorded the sales of 1,59, 691 units. During the month of April 2021, the company sold 1,37, 151 units in the domestic market, 5,303 to OEMs and exported 17, 237 units. Commenting on comparison between the sales of April 2020 and April 2021, the sources of the company said that due to nationwide lockdown in April 2020, the percentage of the sales  was almost zero. Therefore comparing the sales between both periods doesn’t make any sense.

Comparing the sales between March 2020 and March 2021, the company recorded the growth of 99.31 percent. In March 2021 the company sold 1,67,014 units as against 83,792 units sold last year during the same period. In the month of February the company sold 1,64, 469 units. As revealed by the company in a statement.
