Maruti Suzuki doomed again, workers allege Rs 1 crore was paid to each resigned leader
There seems no relief for Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) even after the strike has been called off and the production at Manesar unit has begun.
The workforce is not satisfied with the way the administration at MSI has brought this stalemate to an end. The workers believe that the at the sake of full and final payment, their leaders Sonu Gujjar and Shiv Kumar were not only handed over a few lakh rupees, but a meaty amount of INR 1 Crore per person apart from the assurance to get them flats and cars in Delhi city by the Haryana government. They also suspected the remaining 28 workers who were still in suspension by MSI were paid INR 20 Lakh each.
Few days ago the reports had came in that the 30 suspended employees have submitted their resignations to the company along with Shiv Kumar and Sonu Gujjar taking away the full and final amount between INR 16 Lakhs-40 Lakhs.
Some severe concerns related to corporate governance lies; as per institutional investors, in the way MSI has ended the impasse. On the other hand MSI said that they were not inaccurate in providing the money to its suspended workers, as all the corporate governance rules were take care of.
One among the suspended worker informed that he had resigned and a cheque of INR 16 Lakhs was handed over to him. He had no choice but to receive the sum as leaders Sonu Gujjar and Shiv Kumar had already walked out of the firm, he added.
As per the worker, the 30 labors including him were accused in an internal enquiry performed by the company and hence it was decided to leave with settlement.
An MSI representative said that the strike chapter is closed now and all the suspended workers have resigned, after obtaining their full and final settlement amount from the company.
