Maruti Suzuki India Limited postpone its production in Manesar and Gurgaon plants due to violence in Haryana
Going through the agitation in Haryana by Jat community country’s leading car manufacturing company MSIL has postponed the production operations at its plants located in Manesar and Gurgoan since February 20, 2016. The decision regarding temporary postpone of production activities was taken after disturbance in supply of various components at these plants. According to sources of company at present they are arranging for raw materials from other sources and once the collection of raw material is over company will start the production. However as Indo-Japanese car maker does not has any other production unit in country this suspension of operational activities mean 50% of decline in production.

As it is know going through the protest by Jats, demanding reservation in OBC quota has not taken a violent shape resulting in death of 3 people. Transport facilities across the state and nearby areas are completely disturbed with more than 500 trains being affected. This has impacted badly the daily life activities followed by shut down of schools in affected areas. The Gurgaon plant of MSIL is spread in 300 acres and nine lakh vehicles are manufactured annually from there. Apart from this the company also manufactures K-10 series engine also in this plant and has till now manufactured 10 lakh units so far. The Manesar plant is expanded over area of 600 acres and has production capacity of 5.5 lakh cars annually. The aggregate output from both these plants per day is 5000 vehicles.
It is believed that this postpone of production activities will not impact the sales of company as its dealers throughout the country have substantial stocks with them. The question of only concern in front of company is associated with supply of Baleno hatchback which already has waiting period above six months and now as result of this postpone of production activities might affect its production.
