Maruti Suzuki posts 12.6 percent decline in June sales
India's largest passenger vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) on Monday disclosed the sales figures for the month of June 2013. The company reported 12.6 per cent downfall in total sales for the month of June this year at 84455 units. The company had sold a total of 96597 vehicles in same month of previous year.
Domestic sales of the company stood at 77002 units which is 7.8 per cent less than total sales of 83531 cars in the month of June last year. Last month exports of the county’s largest car maker declined by 43 per cent to 7453 units from 13066 units in same month of year 2012. Sales of Maruti small cars in June 2013 including Maruti 800, Alto, Wagon R and A-Star slashed by 8.4 per cent to 31314 units from 34198 units in the month of June last year. Maruti’s compact segment small cars including Zen Estilo, Ritz and Swift reported sales decline of 7.2 per cent at 20996 units compared to sales of 22624 units in June 2012.
Sales of company's best-selling compact sedan Maruti Swift Dzire is declined by 8.7 per cent to 12548 units from 13741 units in the same month of previous year. Last month MSIL's mid-sized sedan SX4 reported a decline of 23 per cent to 314 units from 408 units in same month of previous year. Meanwhile, there was no buyer for the luxury sedan Kizashi. The company sold 6 units of Kizashi sedan in same month of year 2012.
Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles, declined by 11.4 per cent to 4997 units from 5638 units in same month of year 2012. Meanwhile, vans of the company reported a sales decline of 1.2 per cent to 6833 units from 6916 units in June last year. MSIL reported a decline of by 8.2 per cent for passenger car segment. The company sold 65172 units in June 2013 as against 70977 units in June 2012.
