Maruti Suzuki readies for recommencement of production from Monday

Maruti Suzuki, India's top automobile company, has announced that it will resume production from Monday. However, the standoff between the workers and the company still continues. It has now been 18 days since the workers at the Manesar plant, went on strike on August 29.

According to some sources, The company's production plants at Manesar and Gurgaon will be closed today and tomorrow. The reason for the same is the ongoing strike at Suzuki Powertrain India Limited.

Maruti Suzuki is still intact on the decision of getting the Good Conduct Bond signed by its workers, before they can get back to work. A company official said that there is no change in the decision; the workers would have to sign the bond in roder to resume their duties.

There have also been some violence incidents during this standoff. According to the company, some workers attacked their supervisors at its Manesar plant. Some 11 supervisors were injured during the incident. Gurgaon Police arrested a worker named Dhiraj Soni for being involved in the incident and injuring Maruti Suzuki's staff.

However, the workers have claimed that they had nothing to do with the incident. According to a worker, they were not at all involved in the incident, as the company claims. He said that a worker was beaten by some management's private security guard and they are now thinking of lodging a counter case against Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti Suzuki was able to manufacture 220 units of its highest selling car Maruti Swift, on Thursday. This was when its four of its major facilities at the Manesar plant, remained closed on Thursday.
