After dominating Indian car market for almost three decades, country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to step in Light Vehicle segment. According to recent reports the Indian arm of Japanese car maker is going to launch its first LCV christened as Super Carry in Indian car market sometimes during the next month. In the beginning the first ever LCV by car maker in India will be launched in Ahmedabad, Ludhiana and Kolkata with starting price of Rs 4.03 lakh, 4.01 lakh and 4.11 lakh (ex-showroom price) respectively. 

 

Prior to this company had already exported 100 units of this LCV in South African and Tanzanian car market. It is reported that after making successful entrance in African car market car maker now plans to export the same to SAARC countries. Revealing the features of Super Carry LCV, Mr. R.S. Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) MSIL said, “The Super Carry has been designed and developed based on detailed research and understanding of customer requirements. It offers the best of both the worlds – power and strength as well as carrying capacity. We are confident the Super Carry will enhance the profitability of our customers. It will be retailed through a dedicated ‘Commercial’ sales channel.” 

 

 

Mechanically Super Carry will be energized with 793cc lightweight 2 cylinder diesel engine that churns the power of 32 bhp at 3500 rpm and torque of 75Nm at 2000 rpm, and mated with five speed manual transmission system.  It is endorsed to deliver and average of 22.07 kmpl and top speed of 80 kmph. It is capable of loading 740 kg on all types of roads. It will be offered with warranty of two years or 72,000 km whichever is earlier. According to sources of company it has invested Rs. 300 crore on developing this LCV. After launch in Indian car market it will compete against Tata Ace and Dost from Ashok Leyland.
