Maruti Suzuki Swift Touches The Milestone Of 2 Million Units Sale
Launched back in 2005 the Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback from the country’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has touched the milestone of selling 2 million units since its launch. Although, during this successful journey of thirteen years the hatchback has undergone vast changes according to changing market scenario, thus retaining the charm of Indian buyers towards its performance. At present, the third generation of Swift is being sold in the Indian car market. Interestingly, along with Swift, the Alto hatchback from the Indo-Japanese car maker had also crossed the mark of selling 3.5 million units in the Indian car market.

The third generation of Swift was launched during the Indian Auto Expo held this year, where like its first two generations it succeeded in impressing the Indian buyers with its mind-blowing performance and new features. An interesting feature about touching the milestone of 2 million units by Maruti Suzuki Swift is that its 50,000 units have been sold within the period of two years, after touching the mark of 1.5 million units sold in March 2016.

Under the hood, the Swift is empowered with 1.2 litre K12 petrol engine that churns the power of 82 bhp and 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine that bells the power of 74 bhp. The transmission duties are performed by five-speed manual and five-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol variant offers an average of 22 kmpl, while the diesel offers an average of 28.4 kmpl.
