Maruti Suzuki To Increase The Production of CNG Vehicles

Recently country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited touched the milestone of manufacturing 2.5 crore cars since its entrance into the Indian car market. The Indo-Japanese carmaker manufactures 22 lakh cars every year. On this occasion, the sources of the company said that it is now working on increasing its production capacity and touching the mark of manufacturing 25 lakh units every year, by 2025. According to recent years, the carmaker is also going to focus on producing CNG vehicles, especially the big SUVs.

The company had recently launched the CNG version of XL6, Swift and Baleno. In the words of Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Marui Suzuki India Limited,  “We have received a good response for our CNGXL6. Many of our SUV customers are opting for CNG powertrains for cleaner emissions”. He also added, “From a sales of 1,500CNG vehicles per month during April to May 2022, we are now selling around 1,300 CNG vehicles per month. There has been a 12-13 per cent loss in terms of sales of models because of rising gas prices”.

In the words of Srivastava, there is no change in the prices of CNG in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. And dealers are selling CNG in these cities at the price of Rs 78.60, Rs 89.50, and Rs 58.16 respectively. According to him, because of low maintenance costs and green emissions, buyers now prefer CNG vehicles.
