Maruti Suzuki To Initiate Its Operations From May 12, 2020
Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced to resume its operational activities at its Manesar plant from May 12, 2020. In a statement issued by the Indo-Japanese carmaker, “All activities would be carried out strictly in accordance with the Government regulations and guidelines and observing the Company’s own concern for the highest standards of safety.” According to sources, the leading car manufacturing company was granted permission to resume its activities two weeks back, but due to half preparation and supply chain challenges, it could not start the activities. It is reported that the company had sought permission for 50 percent of its employees to be allowed for working in the premises according to the government guidelines, but was granted the permission for only 600 employees out of 9,800 employees working at the production unit in Manesar.

As reported earlier, most of the carmakers shut down their production activities since March 22, 2020, due to the lockdown announced by the central and state governments to control the spread of Coronavirus. However, in the meantime, the company was working on creating the strategy of standard operating procedures (SOPs) which would be followed once the manufacturing activities resume at its production plants.
It is also reported that the MSIL dealers in the entire country have also resumed their functions according to the guidelines issued by their respective state governments. This includes following the high level of hygiene and sanitizing the outlets. The vehicles used for the test drive would be sanitized daily and only one person apart from the customer relationship manager would be allowed to sit in the car during the test drive. The customer relationship manager will be required to sit at the rear seat following the social distancing guidelines.
