Maruti Suzuki To Update Ertiga, XL6, Brezza With 6-Speed AMT
The country’s leading car manufacturing company the Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has some big plans for the Indian car market during 2022. The company is readying to launch the facelift version of its best selling hatchback Baleno in the first quarter of this year. After that, it will launch the facelift version of Ertiga, XL6, and Brezza in the later months of this year. According to recent reports, the carmaker will replace the existing four-speed automatic transmission system with a new six-speed torque converter automatic transmission system, outsourced from Suzuki Vitara sold in the international market.
At present, the company is providing three types of automatic gear transmission systems in its cars. The Baleno hatchback has a CVT transmission system, whereas the range of hatchbacks including the compact sedan Dzire has a five-speed automatic transmission system as an option. All these cars are available with engine options of 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines. The big-sized cars like Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, XL6, and S-Cross come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and are equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission system.
The facelift Ertiga MPV is ready for launch in March 2022. It will be the first car by the company to receive a new six-speed AMT system. It will be empowered with the existing 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine. The company plans to continue its existing automatic transmission system, a mild hybrid system, followed by a five-speed manual gear transmission system.

After facelift Ertiga, another vehicle to undergo the facelift will be the compact SUV Brezza. Unlike, Ertiga, Brezza will not receive major updates, except the new six-speed automatic transmission system. Other changes will include a new infotainment system and a few cosmetic updates inside the cabin. The company might also offer a CNG trim in the Brezza portfolio.
Moving ahead, in May or June, the company will offer the facelift XL6 with minor updates along with a new automatic transmission system.
