Maruti Swift and Dzire production outage trigger demand for rival cars

When the cat's away, the mice will play. This is what the situation of the hatchback and sedan segment currently. The Maruti Swift hatchback and Maruti Swift Dzire sedan is out of production and so the other cars in respective segments see a considerable rise in sales. A major chunk of Swift or Swift Dzire car buyers have to forcibly go for a second choice and there are many choices available already and there are so many to come. Notably, following the Manesar violence and consequent close down, the production of the Swift and the Dzire sedan has stopped completely and there are no units left with the dealers as well. However, Maruti is continuing with the bookings as it hopes to bring the production back to normal soon.

In the meantime, when there are is no Swift or Dzire available, those car buyers who urgently need a car have to go for second choices in these segments. There are amply attractive offering in both these segments that could match or say surpass the two Maruti cars in their respective segment in terms of their looks, features and safety. Where Hyundai i20, Ford Figo, Tata Indica eCS, Tata Vista, Hyundai Santro and other cars are witnessing high sales recently. On the other hand in the sedan segment, offering such as new Mahindra Verito, Toyota Etios, Hyundai Accent, Tata Indigo CS and Chevrolet Aveo besides other sedan are making hay while the sun is shining bright on them.

There are also some upcoming sedans that could further play the spoilsport for the two cars and these include, Chevrolet Sail hatchback, VW Up!, Skoda Citigo and other in the hatchback segment while, Tata Indigo Manza CS, GM Chevrolet Sail, Mahinda Verito CS, New Ambassador, Renault Scala and new Ford Fiesta are all readying themselves to cash on the Swift Dzire production outage.
