Maruti Udyog penalized with fine of Rs. 3.85 lakh
Country leading car manufacturing group Maruti Udyog Limited has penalized with the penalty of Rs. 3.85 lakh by Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, New Delhi, against the complaint made by its customer Veena Amlani. According to source Veena Amlani had purchased Maruti Wagon R in 2006, and within the short span of one and half year the car started creating various problems. As the result of which car was taken to workshop for several times to rectify the issue.
But despite of various efforts the company engineers did not succeeded in rectifying the problem. The Forum bench chaired by C.K Chaturvedi after going through the arguments made by complainant and on the basis of purchase bills and repair bills reached on the decision that company engineers failed to repair car according to satisfaction of customers due to which the customers had to undergo various physical and mental harassment.
However as the car was purchased almost eight years back it cannot be replaced but based on the facts presented by customers the forum decides that company should pay the penalty amount of Rs. 3.85 lakh to the customer. On contacting the company officials it was reported that complaint made by customer is false.
