Maruti Working on developing new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine

After discontinuing Maruti 800 hatchback from its hood, country major car making company is working on developing a new engine which will be offered in its upcoming hatchback. The expected engine will be 1.0 litre petrol engine and will be direct injected, turbocharged unit. Moving ahead from the introduction of AMT in Celerio, Maruti now intends to join the fleet of automakers offering their small cars blessed with turbo charged engine specifications.
 
The upcoming turbo charged engine has been codenamed as K10C and is expected to generate the power of 90 bhp and will be offered in company’s next project YRA hatchback. It will be offered in the range above Swift and is expected to be launched in Indian car market by the end of next year.

According to sources of company as the engine will be also exported to European countries company will pay proper attention towards emission and efficiency regulations in concern. It would be interested to know that emission figures in Indian car market play an important role for insurance companies and cost of vehicle affecting the buying habits of customers. As an impact of this various car makers have started developing low powered turbo charged engine so as to deliver improved emission and efficiency figures.
