Maruti Y9T LCV in the offing
The country's largest passenger carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India limited, after getting the numero uno position in passenger vehicle segment, is ready to lock horns with Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra in light commercial vehicle segment too. The company is reported to launch a new LCV codenamed Y9T. The new Y9T LCV is under development and will give stiff competition to Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo.
The new LCV vehicle will be offered with diesel engine choice which is expected better in both performance and fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki's first LCV is being developed in direction of India research and development centre and it will be produced at Gujarat plant. The new Maruti Y9T LCV will have a 0.8L, 800cc, 2 cylinder, diesel engine under the hodd. In addition to eat the market share of the Ace and Maxximo LCVs, the Y9T price would be offered at competitive range.
Gradually, Maruti Suzuki is grabbing the all type of vehicle segments in Indian domestic market. With launch of Maruti Ertiga, the company has dived into the Multi Utility Vehicle segment and reporting very well response. It also is reported that by the end of this year, the auto giant could bring the much anticipated compact SUV, Maruti XA Alpha which has already been displayed at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2012.
