Finally the German luxurious car maker Mercedes Benz today made its entry in SUV segment by launching GLC SUV in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 50.7 lakh (ex-showroom price, Pune) for diesel variant and Rs. 50.9 lakh (ex-showroom price, Pune) for petrol variant. The SUV will compete against Audi Q5 and BMW X3. The new SUV actually is altered version of GLK sedan which was offered with left hand drive system.

 

 

Under the hood petrol version of GLC has been named as GLC300 and empowers 1991cc four cylinder engine that boosts the power of 245 bhp and torque of 370Nm, whereas the diesel variant will be sold as GLC220d and sports 2143cc four cylinder diesel engine churning the power of 170  bhp and torque of 400Nm. Both the engines are mated with 9 speed automatic transmission system and offered with 4 MATIC all wheel drive option.

 

 

On the exteriors front fascia of SUV gets twin plated grille followed by chrome garnished faux skid plate, the headlights are similar to ones offered in C-Class sedan. The rear side tail lamps and dual exhaust system covered by huge chrome work similar to AMG GT. The SUV has wheelbase of 2873mm which succeeds in offering spacious cabin to passengers. Inside the cabin it carries most of its cues similar to C-Cass and succeeds in impressing you at first instance. The major attractions of interior are 7 inch infotainment system which offers you 360 degree view of your vehicle and includes features like Garmin navigation system, 20 CD Stereo system, @ USB ports, connectivity with Bluetooth and few others. The bootlid capacity can be increased to 1600 litres from the offered 550 litres. The safety features offered in GLC SUV include parking assist, adaptive brake lights, tyre pressure monitoring system, attention assist system and seven air bags. It also adorns multiple driving modes option. Apart from this the SUV also is equipped with hiss descent control system offered as standard feature.
