Mercedes Benz GLS launching on May 18, 2016
German car maker Mercedes Benz is going to launch the new GLS in Indian car market on May 18, 2016. According to reports the upcoming SUV is endorsed to be the upgraded version of Mercedes Benz GL-Class christened with new name. The vehicle undergoes wide range of cosmetic changes to give it completely a new and fresh look, especially the interiors which receive enormous upgrades giving it lavishing treatment. The price of SUV has not yet be declared by car maker but is expected to be offered with price tag varying between Rs. 80 lakh and Rs. 1.5 Crore. According to sources car maker has already commenced the production of GLS 350d in its production unit at Chakan.

The heart of GLS is enriched with magnificent V8 bi-turbo engine that churns the power of 449 bhp and torque of 699Nm. It is reported that GLS will be offered with different engine options including GLS550 4Matic and GLS63. Apart from these options there will be more engine options christened as GLS 450 4Matic that will be empowered with 3.0 litre V6 bi-turbo engine generating power of 362 bhp while GLS350d 4Matic will boost the poer of 255 bhp. All the engines will be offered with 9 speed automatic transmission system exclusing GLs63 which will have option of low range configuration along with feature of central differential lock.

Moving towards the features that are adorned in this new SUV include refreshed front fascia in form of muscular bonnet with company’s logo mounted over newly developed dual silver plates. The headlights have been tweaked with signature multi beam lamps followed by LED DRLs. The front bumper receives more aggressive treatment in form of enlarged air intakes along with chrome garnished slat. The side profile remains almost same as offered in GL Class, whereas the rear portion receives newly developed rear bumper, LED Tail lights and few more.

Inside the cabin SUV offers comfort seating experience to seven passengers. It also receives 8 inch touchscreen replacing infotatinment system. The new touch pad and three spoke steering wheel undergo contemporary changes and come mated with Nappa leather. Moving ahead with an objective to offer more comfort to passengers air ionization system has also been introduced by car maker.
