Mercedes-Benz India records 30 per cent growth

Mercedes Benz India seems to be going a big way as despite lukewarm economy and dim auto sector response, the company is able to clock a decent 30 percent growth compared to 2010. The sedan and SUV segments were the two that brought accolades for Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes Benz C Class and Mercedes Benz E Class were the ones that stood first and second in sales. There was also a significant improvement in the sales of Mercedes Benz M Class and Mercedes Benz GL Class SUVs. With such promising growth, Mercedes sold over 7430 units in year 2011 compared to 5819 in year 2010.

With inspiring numbers on the sales chart in India, Mercedes has a strong outlook for 2012 and besides launching new cars in India it will be introducing a Performance Driving Academy and new Paint shop this year.

Sales results of Mercedes show that there was a sudden rise in demand for sedans and SUVs in India and having some good options in these segments, the company was able to woo customers. The company also witnesses a sharp rise in the demand for completely built up models such as Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes Benz G 55 AMG and the new Mercedes Benz SLK 350 and Mercedes Benz E Class Cabriolets.

Amidst these encouraging numbers, Mercedes Benz India has also expanded its reach in India and now has its network in 29 cities and 61 touchpoints, said Mr. Peter Honegg, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes Benz India in a media release. Commenting on the successful last one year of Mercedes Benz in India, Mr. Debashis Mitra. Director, Marketing & Sales, Mercedes-Benz India said that the real winners are the customers who have shown their interest in the Mercedes Benz cars in India. The company is also soon to inaugurate first of kind Performance Driving Academy.
