Mercedes Benz launches GLS Class in India, priced Rs. 80.4 lakh

German car maker Mercedes has launched the refreshed version of its luxurious SUV GL Class in India with new moniker GLS to represent the series of new flagship S being introduced by car maker for its existing vehicles. The Mercedes Benz GLS Class has been offered with starting price of Rs. 80.4 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi) and apart from S class badge it also adorns bunch of remarkable features that will succeed in giving it completely a distinctive look from its predecessor.

The heart of this luxurious SUV is studded with 3.0 litre V6 bi-turbo diesel engine developing the power of 258 bhp and torque of 620Nm. The engine is mated with nine speed automatic transmission system transmitting the power to four wheels through 4MATIC AWD system.  On the cosmetic front it receives same updates as offered in other S Class vehicles. These changes include refreshed front fascia in form of contoured headlamps with multi beam lamps followed by LED DRLs and two platted silver garnished front grille. The front bumper has been upgraded with enlarged air intakes along with large chrome diffuser. The marking of new character lines on bonnet succeeds in giving GLS SUV a muscular look. On the rear portion it embellishes subtle changes in form of revamped tail lights, rear bumper and bootlid opener. The side profile almost remains same but carries new alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin also it receives bunch of various remarkable updates to make it competitive with other S –Class vehicles. The interior has been upgraded with eight inch free floating infotainment system, three spoke steering wheel covered with Nappa leather, touchpad unit installed between the front seat passengers, newly developed instrument console. The Nappa leather covering has also been placed on seats and door pads. Along with all these features company has paid appropriate attention towards the integration of safety features it now adorns crosswind assist system, brake assist system, cruise control system, collision prevention assist system, ESP and electronic AWD traction system with 4ETS.
