Mercedes Benz unveils B Class today, commercial launch soon

The German car maker Mercedes Benz has unveiled the Mercedes Benz B Class today at an official function at the famous Buddh international Circuit. The B Class is basically a befitting ‘Merc’ answer to the rivals Audi and BMW in India. Earlier, many times the compact MPV was spied testing near its Pune facilities. At the unveiling, the price of Mercedes Benz B Class was not revealed, but anything between INR 20-25 Lakh can be expected, when it hits the showrooms by September-October this year. According to company, the Mercedes Benz B Class will be presented as first ‘Sports Tourer’ (ST) in India.

Until the formal launch the company will be seen busy in the promotional activities and awareness programs to prepare perfect grounds for the launch. The B Class, which is termed as the volume seller, is a premium compact MPV that will boast drivability of sedan, utility of an MPV and performance vigor of an SUV. With three-in-one capabilities the Mercedes Benz B Class  is estimated to be the cheapest in the Mercedes line up. To market this enthralling ‘Sports Tourer’, the company has introduced an adventurous campaign called Ultimate Touring Trail. Here the owners will be invited experience some breathtaking activities like sky diving, SCUBA diving and many more.

The modern features of fantastic looking Mercedes Benz B Class will comprise of Brake Hold and Hill Hold Function, Speed Limit Assist, Active Parking Assist, Attention Assist, Distronic Plus and Blind Spot Detection System together with Adaptive Headlamp Assist. Some other aspects that are usually found in Mercedes are paddle shifters, 7-airbags, adaptive brakes lights, eco Start-n-Stop and Bi-xenon headlamps alongside 1200-1300 litre of boot space at rear.

It will be the most important launch by German carmaker, as the next on cards is Mercedes Benz A Class by early 2013. The Mercedes Benz B Class will complete the product portfolio and Mercedes’ representation in all the segments. Notably, Mercedes was at the numero uno position among luxury car makers in India but was recently overthrown to third position after BMW acceded to the first position and Audi took the second position. Meanwhile, the leasing option by Mercedes has been reportedly very successful and the car maker is getting good response in India. In order to fetch some numbers, the car maker will be targeting the tier 2 and tier 3 cities as well.
