MG Astor Launched In India With A Price Tag Of Rs 9.78 Lakh
MG Motors has launched the compact SUV Astor in the Indian car market with a starting price of Rs 9.78 lakh for the base VTi-Tech manual version. The top-end variant Sharp is priced at Rs 16.78 lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices. It comes with Level 2 ADAS safety features available as an option in VTi-Sharp CVT and 220 Sharp AT Trims. The MG Astor is the petrol version of MG ZS EV and is the fifth model by the company in India. It is the first vehicle in the country with an AI-based personal assistant feature.

The compact SUV is developed on Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) and therefore comes equipped with a wide range of advanced technical features. The company will develop all its upcoming vehicles based on this platform.
Mechanically, the Astor is available with the two engine options of a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine that churns the power of 138 bhp and the torque of 220Nm. The transmission duty in this version is performed by a six-speed automatic transmission system. The other engine option includes a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine which boosts the power of 108 bhp and the torque of 144 Nm. The transmission duties include the options of a manual gear transmission system and an eight-speed CVT gear transmission system.
On the interior front, it comes with some remarkable features like a 10-1 inch instrument cluster, power-adjustable front seats, 360-degree camera view, a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, air-purifier, and an electric parking brake system. Speaking about its AI assistant system, it is capable of understanding not only language but also supports up to 35 voice commands in Hinglish. The newly introduced AI system also offers more than 80 internet features like jokes, news, Wikipedia, GIFs for festival wishings, online music streaming, in-car control, and a few more. On the safety front, it has six airbags, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, a hill descent control system, al four-disc brakes, and a traction control system.
On the exterior front, it almost looks identical to its elder sibling ZS EV. The front fascia adorns a new bumper, new aggressive celestial pattern grille, LED Hawkeye projector headlamps,boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The exterior front also receives 17-inch turbine-shaped machine alloy wheels, roof rails, and heated ORVMs. On the rear portion, it receives new LED taillamps, chrome garnished dual exhaust pipes and a new bumper. It is available with five colour options including Aurora Silver, Candy White, Spiced Orange, Glaze Red, and Starry Black.
