The British carmaker MG Motors has launched the premium Gloster SUV in the Indian car market with the starting price of Rs. 28.98 (ex-showroom price, New Delhi) lakh for the base variant. The top-end variant is priced Rs. 35.38 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). The company has already commenced the bookings of the SUV with the down payment of Rs. 1 lakh. According to the sources of the company, first 2,000 customers will be given the SUV at the above-mentioned prices. It is offered in the four trims, Super, Sharp, Smart, and Savvy. The base variant Super is offered with the seven-seater facility while the Smart and Savvy with the six-seater facility, and the Sharp with an option of both six and seven-seater facility.

 

 

 Under the hood, it is powered with two engine options of 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in the Super and Smart trims and mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission system. Both these trims are offered with a rear-wheel-drive facility. The Sharp and Savvy trims are equipped with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo engine that is capable of boosting the power of 215 bhp and the torque of 480Nm. This engine configuration is offered with a four-wheel-drive facility. After the launch in India, the Gloster will compete with Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, and Mahindra Alturas G4.

 

Speaking about the standard features offered in all the trims include an eight-inch instrument cluster, LED interior lights, captain seats, three-zone automatic climate control, 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system that supports connectivity with Bluetooth, LED DRLs, projector lens LED headlights, fatigue reminder, side and curtain airbags with electronic stability program, hill hold control system, anti-lock braking system, brake assist system, electronic brake-force distribution, rear disc brakes, traction control, and roll movement intervention.

 

The common features shared between Smart and Savvy trims are an eight-speaker system that supports connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay followed by an integration of iSmart technology supporting connectivity with 70 additional features. The top-end trim Savvy receives the additional features like advanced driver assistance system or level 1 autonomous system, lane-departure system, automatic emergency braking, an automatic parking assist, lane departure system, and adaptive cruise control system.
