Mini SUV Tata Punch Ready For Launch
According to recent industry reports the domestic carmaker Tata Motors is set to launch its mini SUV Punch in the Indian car market before the festive season. Earlier the carmaker had showcased its prototype as an HBX concept during the Indian Auto Expo 2020. The upcoming SUV is based on ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) platform. It is the same platform on which its premium hatchback Altroz is developed. It would be interesting to know that Altroz is the first vehicle based on this platform.

To begin with the engine, Punch will carry the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Altroz. This engine generates a power of 83 bhp and a torque of 113Nm. The transmission duties include a five-speed manual gear transmission system and a five-speed AMT system. It is speculated that the company may also offer the option of the turbo-engine variant with the same transmission duties.
On the exterior front, it will carry the same looks as exhibited during its showcase at the Indian Auto Expo. It continues the company’s Impact Design 2.0 philosophy that was used in the Harrier SUV. On the front fascia, it receives a large front bumper, spilt headlamp cluster, LED tail lamps, LED DRLs, a large front grille and squared wheel arches. Other notable features offered on the exterior front includes 16-inch alloy wheels, a floating roof design, black cladding across the body, a well-designed tail-gate, and dual-tone colour treatment.
As far as the interior portion is concerned nothing has been so far revealed by the carmaker. However, going through the teasers and spy pictures captured by different sources, it is seen that Punch will receive an all-black coloured interior, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel, and a few more. After launch in the Indian car market the Punch will go against the like of Marut Suzuki S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and Mahindra KUV300.
