Minister Nitin Gadkari Arrives Parliament In Hydrogen Car
Recently the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Honourable Nitin Gadkari arrived at Parliament in a green hydrogen fuel cells powered car. A view of the minister sitting in the front of this car is creating a buzz on the internet. The white coloured car has a green coloured number plate that is mainly for pollution resistant vehicles. The white coloured number plates are used on private vehicles, whereas the yellow coloured number plates are determined for the commercial vehicles used by the fleet operators.

The hydrogen car in which the honourable minister of MoRTH reached the parliament is named “Mirai”. The car was recently launched in India by the Japanese carmaker Toyota Motors and its first unit was delivered to Nitin Gadkari. As far as the performance of the Hydrogen car is concerned it can travel up to 600 kilometres with a full tank. Thus costing Rs 2 per kilometre. It would be interesting to know that it takes only five minutes to fill the fuel tank.
An Overview of Hydrogen Car: As the name suggests it is a car that uses hydrogen to power the wheels. It is will serve as a good fuel option to cater to fuel needs in future with zero-carbon emissions. The first hydrogen fuel cell car Mirai will travel up to 650 kilometres with a full fuel tank. Hydrogen is not available in raw forms like petrol, gas, or coal. It is extracted by two chemical processes. One is converting natural gas, and the other is converting water through electrolysis.

- Less tax
- Better average than electric cars
Disadvantages of Hydrogen Car
- Hydrogen is highly flammable and this can be a matter of safety
- Less number of refilling stations
- The cost of hydrogen is higher than petrol and diesel.
