MSIL And HCIL Suspends Their Production Activities
Going through the threat of COVID-19 and to protect its employees from its affects country’s leading car manufacturers Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Hyundai Cars India Limited have suspended their production activities at their production units located Manesar and Chennai respectively.
According to the reports the announcement by MSIL has been made in accordance to the notice issued by the District Magistrate, Gurugram, stating that all the private, corporate establishments and factories are required to be completely shut down till March 31, 2020. Along with this the company’s R&D Centre in Rohtak will also remain closed as an impact of the existing situation.

In a regulatory filing, submitted by the sources of MSIL, it is said that the “Maruti Suzuki has been taking all recommended precautions in its operations against the spread of COVID-19, which includes sanitisation and hygiene, temperature checks, maximizing video-conferencing and minimising contact, closing employee travel, health and distancing advisories to employees and following all government directions on the subject. As a next step, the Government policy now requires closure of production and accordingly the company has taken a decision on production closure."
Following the same strategy the Korean carmaker Hyundai Motors India Limited has also suspended its operations till further orders regarding lockdown are not issued by the state government. Besides this, the HCIL is also initiated a program to provide assistance to its customers. The company will provide 24x7 road assistance to its customers during an emergency. With this the company will also offer two months extended warranty to all those buyers of the new cars who could not enjoy the benefits offered during the scheme and also the free services due to ongoing conditions. The company has provided 1000 doorstep bikes and cars to offer road assistance to its customers.
Apart from MSIL and HCIL, various auto manufacturing companies are also initiating the same strategy to combat with the existing situation.
