MSIL And HMIL To Boost Mass Segment Cars In India
Going through the decline in the sales of hatchback country’s leading car makers Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Hyundai Motors India Limited are bringing to once again focus on the cars that have lost their charms due to arrival of affordable compact SUVs in the market. According to sales statistics revealed by an authentic agency, although the sales of passenger vehicles increased from 2.6 million in 2011-12 to 3.3 million in 2017-18, but sales of hatchbacks including the entry level and small cars declined from 1,358,000 to 1,352,000 during the same period.

Therefore, keeping this fact in the concern where the top manufacturer of the cars, Maruti Suzuki India Limited is going to launch the generation next Alto back in the Indian car market, the Korean car Hyundai Motors is going to launch a new entry level hatchback during the coming months in the market. In words of Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Director, Sales and Marketing, HMIL, “We would be launching a contemporary car that will address the entry-level of the car market,” According to the reports the upcoming hatchback will be outsourcing most of its features from Creta and Elite i20 and will be christened as Santro, and will replace the Eon hatchback.

Industry experts believe that the launch of upgraded models will definitely help the car makers in pushing the sales of mass segment cars, but at the same time with the implementation of new emission standards and integration of standard safety features will hike the cost of cars to the huge extent.
