New Duster in the making, India launch likely by 2014
Dacia has pulled its socks for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the car maker will unveil two new cars at the grandiose event. Sources close to development opine that upgraded version of the Renault Duster SUV could be one of the cars that will be unveiled at the event. The second vehicle that could be revealed at the event is the station wagon version of Logan. Known as the Multi Convivial Vehicle, the Station Wagon of Logan is a highly selling vehicle in various parts of Europe. The new avatar of Logan will be conceived on the new Dacia Logan platform that is much better that its antecedent. Logan sedan and Sandero which were rolled out in the year 2012 are conceived on the new Logan platform.
Since Logan MCV is not included in the India portfolio therefore the possibility of the vehicle to route towards India is bleak. Duster on the other hand is a popular vehicle in India and chances are bright that this could be launched in India also. The upgraded Duster is anticipated to be based on the D-Cross concept that was exhibited at the Sau Paulo Motor Show at the end of the year 2012. Auto experts have the opinion that it would be viable for the car maker to display new Duster at the event as other compact SUVs like Ford EcoSport and Chevrolet Trax are proving to be a major threat for the SUV. In Brazil, Ford EcoSport toppled Duster for its numero uno position; therefore, it’s time now for the SUV to undergo makeover for better.
Dacia and Renault need to tweak Duster to keep abreast with the competition in the form of above mentioned SUVs. Expect a new front end and various styling changes in the new Duster. Apart from this, the SUV could also come with a new chassis however the engine options are expected to be the same. The domestic market might not get the Duster facelift in 2013, expect the SUV to bow in by 2014 as Renault launched the SUV in July 2012 in the Indian car market. Renault is shipping Duster SUV from India to England and Ireland.
