New Fiat Punto spied, all new exterior expected

If the history of car industry is written by anywhere in India, Fiat India would be tagged as a hero that has made a comeback so suddenly so soon. With almost 5-6 years of almost oblivion, Fiat India’s recent Fiat Punto Sport launch created sensation and the most powerful diesel hatchback has picked up pace in the country. Meanwhile, the buzz is that Fiat may launch the new Fiat Punto in the country. The 2013 Fiat Punto will be more like the existing model but with lots of exterior image step ups.

Recently, some car enthusiasts were able to spot the new Fiat Punto in Brazil. The highly camouflaged Punto has lot to hide and only least of it was visible. The car has started doing well in India with Fiat increasing the number of dealership across India and a further increase is on the cards this year. The Punto in India is a close rival of Maruti Swift, Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20 and other cars. However, compared to any of these, the Punto is not able to sell well. Meanwhile pitching in the Punto Sport ahead of the Maruti Swift Sport is a wise move by the Italian car maker as it will establish Punto as a sports hatchback.

The new Punto that was spotted in Brazil is the 2013 version of the car and though not many details are available right now but as per the industry experts, the car is expected to have totally new headlamps, new bonnet and new front and rear bumpers. Fiat is expected to make the new Punto more streamlined, peppier with a revved up engine besides new interiors and lot of gizmos inside. The new Punto is expected to come with some new shades as well. Furthermore, the sun roof could also be part of the Indian model as well with the new Punto coming in some time.
