New Mazda MX 5 to come out from Fiat-Mazda collaboration
With roadsters demand in the international auto market grooming, Fiat Group Automobiles and Mazda Motor Corporation have formed an alliance to develop & produce new roadster models for Alfa Romeo and Mazda brands. Speculated models to undergo reformation will be famous Mazda MX5 and Alfa Spider which will not only help in cutting costs but will also strengthen the tie up of the two renowned car makers.
Based on the popular car models, the new roadsters would be equipped with a unique engine never used before along with rear wheel drive feature. For better performance, the weight of the vehicles would be reduced. As per unconfirmed reports the manufacturing of the roadsters would undergo at Hiroshima plant of Mazda in Japan and will start to roll out Alfa Romeo roadsters by 2015.
Takashi Yamanouchi, Mazda's Representative Director and Chairman of the Board, President and CEO said that to form strategic production alliances with technically sound auto companies is always on the cards of Mazda and the decision to join hands with Fiat is an important step in this direction. Furthermore, he said company is delighted to form alliance with legendary car maker Alfa Romeo in order to develop a new roadster based on the next generation Mazda MX5 which has been an iconic car for years.
Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne also sounded confident. He said that Alfa Romeo’s tie up with established leader in compact rear wheel drive cars Mazda is an indication to company’s dedication to push Alfa brand.
