New Variant Of Altroz Revealed By Tata Motors In A Teaser
Home-grown carmaker Tata Motors has released a video of its premium hatchback Altroz entitled as” Your Santa Altroz” – “Coming Soon”. The new variant is slated within next few days near Christmas. The company has however not revealed any information regarding its specifications, therefore it's not yet sure that whether it will be a turbocharged petrol variant or just a special edition. The turbocharged petrol engine will be equipped with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates the power of 110 bhp and the torque of 140Nm.

As far as the transmission duties offered in the turbocharged variant are concerned it will be offered with a five-speed manual gear transmission system. It is rumoured that the company might also launch the sevens-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system. The manual gear transmission system is reported to be outsourced from Lumax, while the dual-clutch automatic system from Punch. Some of the other components will be supplied by Schaeffler. It is reported that the company will introduce the same dual-clutch automatic transmission system in its upcoming vehicles also.
Speaking about the design and features of the new turbo-petrol variant, it is reported to carry the same looks as offered in its existing variants. To make it look different from its existing trims it will have an ‘iturbo’ logo studded on its rear fascia. With the starting price of Rs. 5.44 lakh (Ex-showroom price), the Altroz at present is offered in five trims namely – XE, XM, XT, XZ, and XZ(O). The company also offers the four optional packs worth Rs. 39,000 above the existing variants. These packs are named as Rhythm, Style, Luxe, and Urban.
According to the sources of Tata Motors, the new DCT transmission system will be stronger than the existing AMT systems installed in the other cars. It is also more cost-effective than the existing DCT systems or the torque convertor transmission system. At present, the Altroz is offered in both the petrol and diesel variants of a 1.2-lire naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
