New Vehicles Amendment Bill 2019 Passed In Lok Sabha
The government passed the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. The new bill is an amended version of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. The bill was passed on the basis of the voice vote conducted by the Speaker Honorable Om Birla. The same bill was presented in the Lok Sabha in the April 2017, but could not passed in the Rajya Sabha and lapsed due to the dissolution of the then Lok Sabha.
The new bill was presented by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Honorable, Nitin Gadkari on Monday July 22, 2019. The bill enforces the new penalties for violating the traffic rules. The penalty charges according to new bill are referred below:
