Nissan India registers 44 percent growth
Japanese car giant Nissan has registered a 44 percent increase in its sales in 2011 over year 2010. Nissan Micra is undoubtedly the achiever. Recently launched Nissan Sunny too did well and over 3663 units since September 2011. In December 2011 alone, Nissan was able to sell 1596 units compared to only 1104 units in the same month in 2010. The Nissan Sunny Diesel also clicked and over 27 units were sold in December 2011 alone.

India made global hatchback Nissan Micra remained the true sales puller this year as well as the sedan Nissan Sunny which was launched in September 2011. Besides, Nissan Sunny Diesel also performed well after its recent launch. Next in sales chart were Nissan Xtrail, Nissan Teana and Nissan 370Z sports car. Experts believe that Nissan Sunny Diesel has a large potential if the company prices it in a more competitive manner. Currently the Nissan Sunny Diesel price starts at Rs 7.98 for the XL model and goes upto Rs 8.78 ex- showroom for the XV model. The Nissan Sunny Diesel returns a mileage of 21.64 kmpl and runs on a Renault-Nissan alliance K9K diesel engine that is high on performance as well. Nissan currently has 49 dealerships in India and offers five products in the country.

Nissan is highly banking on Nissan Sunny Diesel and expect considerably large numbers on the sales chart this time. Speaking on the good performance of Nissan cars in India, Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director reportedly said: “With the launch of the Sunny Diesel variant, we are on track to achieve the targeted sales performance despite the difficult market conditions in India. The Sunny Diesel will further boost our continued growth in India and together with our entire product range, we are confident of accelerating our progress in the Indian market.”
