Nissan Leaf becomes best selling electric car, Reva E2O could replicate success
The future of electric seems to have come, it seems. Where India is all set to welcome its own electric car Mahindra Reva e2O anytime in March-April this year, the Japanese electric car Nissan Leaf has become the world’s most popular car. As per the reports, it has crossed the sales mark of 50k units. Some experts believe that the Leaf took three years to get 50K on the sales chart after it was launched in 2010 but Mahindra E2O has the potential to attain this figure in much less time. The E2O is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and this second tenure of the erstwhile Reva NXR is expected to be far more successful than ever.
Apart from powerful electric motor, new long lasting batteries and less charging time, there are a lot of things for which the new Reva NXR aka E2O will be known for. Some reports suggested that the Reva could also light the homes during power cuts which will be an interesting feature and people will consider this car as their own power plant. The new electric car is also expected to be a success this time following the assumption that it will be highly affordable this time as compared to any petrol or diesel car. As petrol prices have just got another shot when it got dearer by Rs 1.5 per litre and diesel prices are also up by 45 paisa per litre people are sentimentally thinking of some viable alternatives and the electric cars will be the one.
It is assumed that Nissan Leaf has got a similar sentiment working behind its popularity. Specially in US, Europe where the economy is down, pollution levels have gone increasingly up. Reports also reveal that as time passes by the popularity will get new wings. In all, Nissan Leaf sold till today have covered over 161 million miles more than the electric car Chevrolet Volt. In addition to this, Leaf has also bagged the title of a car that has 95 percent of satisfied customers.
