Nissan’s racing arm NISMO eyes to debut in India

With the motorsport is gaining momentum in the Indian market, more and more leading car makers are mulling to bring their single brand racing tournaments along with performance tuning shops in the Indian market. Adding its name in the same league, the Japanese auto giant Nissan is looking forward to enter the motorsport field in the Indian market with its motorsport arm – Nissan Motorsports International Co (NISMO).

As per a statement issued by NISMO, when the firm will decide upon entering into the motorsport race in the markets where its parent Nissan’s business is growing, India will also be considered. According to a statement given by Shoichi Miyatani, NISMO President, while India is a very important destination as a car market but it remains to be seen that how motorsports evolve here in the future. According to him, as F1 racing tournament conducted in India, the popularity of Motorsports is going to be at a new high in the Indian market.

Mr. Miyatani added that as the automotive business is expending in the markets like India and China, the firm’s approach on motorsport has to evolve. NISMO is currently present in the Japanese market only, and take part on both domestic and international races in that market.

Starting with Japan, NISMO is currently studying the race and rallies, where it should participate. The Indian market is expected to soon come up in the process of involvement of all regions and motorsport agencies in the global market.
