NITI Aayog Releases Proposal For EV Charging Stations In New Delhi
NITI Aayog the think tank group constituted by the Central government has advertised the necessity of setting up 135 electric vehicle charging stations at 55 locations across the Delhi - NCR region. The proposal regarding setting up of charging stations was released by Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice-Chairman, NITI Aayog. The draft of the proposal is developed by the NITI Aayog in collaboration with an IT solution firm AC2SG. In beginning the first interested to set up such stations can provide the draft of infrastructure for EC charging stations to be located in Gurgaon-IGI-South Delhi-Noida belt. This will help in giving the final shape to the strategy and will also minimize the cost of setting up the charging stations.

The whole project is expected to be accomplished in five stages which will include project kickoff, developing the list of the locations where these stations would be set up, streamlining and timing, documentation and wrap-up. Among 135 charging stations 46 stations would be direct current quick charging stations while 89 would be slower alternate current stations. To accomplish the whole project successfully co-operation would be required from the state government and its departments and authorities, companies and private agencies.
The proposal requires determining the timeline and setting up of the first station during the month of November 2017. The time and funds required in accomplishing the whole task will help in determining the funds and time for setting up the remaining electric vehicle charging stations in Delhi-NCR region and also in the other parts of the country.
