‘One Manufacturing’ Plan by Ford
Ford has taken out a new way to cut down cost and at the same time churn out more cars from a single facility. The ‘One Manufacturing’ plan from Ford is a smart one and deals with homogenizing its cars and its manufacturing units, which would assist the firm in producing more and more cars from a single manufacturing plant and thereby cutting down the cost to a large extent. This is a very flexible strategy, which means that Ford India will now be able to churn out cars based on the demands rather than keeping the plant idle when the demand for one particular model is low.

Besides lowering the costs, the company will also be able to chop down the waiting periods for its cars, which require more production due to its high demand. So far, this plan by Ford does seem quite appealing and pretty similar to that of Volkswagen has applied with the MQB platform. Ford’s ‘One Manufacturing’ Plan is hoping to establish about 9 facilities in the Asia-Pacific region that would generate 2.9 million cars annually.

Ford India has been in Shape in India since a long time now. Its engine capabilities are strong as it deals in both petrol as well as diesel. And the new ‘One Manufacturing’ Plan will surely help the company. The great demand for diesel cars has already kept Ford on its toes.

Ford India has big plans as well. The car maker is mulling on launching about eight new products to the Indian car market by 2015. The first from this lot is the new Fiesta sedan that has already been launched in the country and the second one is the Ford EcoSport. The new plant is also expected to be established in Gujarat under the ‘One Manufacturing’ strategy by 2014.
