Paris Motor Show 2016: Brief Coverage
Whenever someone talks about organization of Motor Show in any corner of world, an image of beautifully decorated and lighted huge hall appears in front of your eyes with CEO’s renowned car makers exhibiting their initiatives in front of audiences and clicking cameras with fast heartbeat to know the reaction of visitors emerges in front of your eyes. And when that event is as large as Paris Motor Show, the imaginations of car enthusiasts go beyond the sky. This year once again the curtain of Paris Motor Show 2016 have been pulled off and show has started witnessing the vision of future cars that rule over the global market in coming years. Although officially the show will be opened for public from October 1, 2016 to October 16, 2016, but prior to it the special screening of upcoming cars has been conducted for press. Going through the reports received from show we have tried to bring brief coverage for our readers.
1. India bound new Hyundai Grand i10: Slated for launch in Indian car market sometimes during 2017, Korean car maker Hyundai Motors has showcased the generation next Grand i10 during the show. The upgraded version receives various cosmetic updates and integration of new features. Mechanically it will be offered with two engine options of 1.0 litre and 1.25 litre in petrol variant. The transmission duty will be looked by five speed manual gearbox followed by an option of four speed automatic transmission system. As far as Indian car market is concerned the generation next Hyundai Grand i10 will be offered with existing engine configurations in petrol and diesel variants.

An appreciating feature about new Hyundai Grand i10 is that apart from cosmetic updates, the new Grand i10 this time will be embellished with advanced safety features namely Front Collision Warning System and Land Departure Warning System (this however will be offered as optional in few trims). Inside the cabin, apart from contemporary cosmetic updates the Grand i10 will be equipped with seven inch touchscreen navigation system will Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for integration, safe driving and mirrored functionality for iOS and android smartphones.
2. New Audi Q5: The generation next Audi Q5 crossover SUV had been on cards of German luxurious car maker Audi and finally the car maker showcased the same during this Paris Motor Show 2016. The new Audi Q5 is also scheduled for launch in Indian car market. Developed on MLB Evo platform the generation next Q5 from Audi undergoes substantial cosmetic updates on both exteriors and interiors. Interestingly along with cosmetic updates, the new Audi Q5 is not only stylish and appealing but also light weighted.

Under the bonnet new Audi Q5 will be empowered with newly developed 2.0 TFSI engine that boosts the power of 248 bhp. There will be diesel engine also offered with option of 2.0 litre TDI and 3.0 litre TDI engine configuration. Where the later generates the power of 281 bhp and torque of 620Nm, the former is offered with option three powertrains of 147 bhp, 161 bhp and 88 bhp. The 2.0 litre engine configuration in petrol and diesel variants will be mated with seven speed S tronic transmission system, the 3.0 litre TDI diesel will be mated with eight speed tiptronic transmission system as standard feature. The Indian version of Q5 is anticipated to be offered with 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines.
3. SsangYong LIV-2 Concept: Korean car maker SsangYong has showcased the LIV-2 (Limitless Interface Vehicle) concept during the Paris Motor Show 2016. The SsangYong LIV-2 concept looks more aggressive and dynamic as compared to LIV-1 Concept by car maker. It is reported to go for production sometimes during next year. The conceptual version of SsangYong LIV-2 is powered with 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns the power of 179 bhp, while the petrol unit of concept LIV-2 is empowered with 2.0 litre engine churning the power of 223 bhp. The transmission system will include six speed manual transmission system and also seven speed automatic transmission system outsourced from Mercedes-Benz.

Besides integration of modern features on exteriors and interiors the LIV-2 concept embellishes plethora of safety features including nine airbags, curtain and driver’s knee airbag, advanced emergency braking assist system, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane changing assist system, high bean assist and traffic safety system.
4. Mercedes-Benz GLC350e Plug-In Hybrid: Going through the concerns for pollution free vehicles, German car maker Mercedes-Benz showcased its fourth plug in hybrid vehicle GLC 350e during the Paris Motor Show 2016. The predecessors of GLC 350e are named as GLE 550 e SUV, C 350 e and S 550 e. The hybrid GLC350 e is empowered with 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine supported with electronic motor and 8.7 kilowatt hour lithium ion battery. The combination of engine and battery generates the power of 320 bhp and torque of 560Nm. The transmission duty is performed by seven speed automatic transmission system. It will be offered with four matic all wheel drive system.The car is capable of touching the mark of 100 kmph from standstill in 5.9 seconds and top notch of 235 kmph. The new hybrid car from Mercedes-Benz will be offered with multiple driving options including Hybrid mode, all-electric E-Mode, an E-Save mode.

Powering the GLC 350 e is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is teamed with an electric motor and 8.7-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. The combined power on offer is a massive 320bhp, while the torque figure stands at 560Nm. The seven-speed automatic transmission transmits power to all four wheels through a version of Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The plug-in hybrid, then is a fairly quick car as 0 to 100 km/h is dealt with in just 5.9 seconds while the top speed is rated at 235Km/h. Mercedes says it also has a 33 km electric-only range, while a full recharge from a Level 2 AC source should take about four hours.
