Petrol prices in India go up by Rs 2 per litre

Petrol prices in India have recently been increased by 2 per litre excluding VAT. This is the first increase in petrol prices in the previous three months. The Government had earlier enhanced the petrol prices in March this year. Due to weakening rupee against the US Dollar, the oil marketing companies have taken decision to enhance the petrol prices, and now petrol price in New Delhi is Rs 65.99 per litre. Few months ago, the Government has also hiked the Diesel prices.

On the other hand, due to continue hike in petrol prices, automobile companies are moving for diesel engine vehicles' launch. Most of popular petrol car maker companies like Honda, Chevrolet and Toyota have moved to diesel engine vehicles making. Honda India has recently launched its first diesel car Amaze which is reporting very well response. Meanwhile, targeting the fuel efficient vehicle lovers, Maruti Suzuki India has also offered the CNG option its Ertiga MPV.

Mahindra & Mahindra has also offered its first hatchback Mahindra Verito Vibe with only diesel engine options. Renault India is reporting the best sales for the diesel model of the hit SUV, Renault Duster. The diesel version of the compact sedan Maruti Swift Dzire is becoming best selling for the company as last month it has driven past the best selling Alto. Overall, the effect of hike in petrol prices is clearly appearing in auto market.
