Peugeot 2008 Compact Crossover India launch possible, unveil at Paris Motor Show

Peugeot India plans could have been shelved for the time being but the car maker is not at all dormant. It will be unveiling the Peugeot 2008 Compact SUV at the Paris Motor Show starting on September 29. This compact crossover is of prime importance for India as well as the segment has seen some of the best entries recently in the form of Renault Duster and Premier Rio 1.3 L multijet model. There are also some upcoming compact SUVs such as Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha besides the Hyundai compact SUV. It is believed that sooner or later, Peugeot will be launching its cars in India as the India market is one of the best market for cars after China.

Peugeot has unveiled many cars for India but it has put brakes on its car launches in India following the high price of Peugeot cars or due to the non feasibility of the cars in India. The car maker has unveiled many cars at the New Delhi Auto Expo held in January and at that time it was expected that some of these will be launched in two three months but soon the charm faded away as there were reports that the launches have been deferred. Cars such as Peugeot 107, Peugeot 508, Peugeot 4007, Peugeot 308 and others were supposed to be heading for India but something went wrong and the Peugeot car launches were deferred.

Now that there are reports about the Peugeot 2008 crossover unveiling at the Paris Motor Show, it is expected that the car maker could think of launching it in India as the segment is hot and there are only a handful of offerings right now and only some are expected to arrive. In these circumstances, it is expected that the car maker could announce the launch of the Peugeot 2008 Crossover soon. But the crossover is not expected to enter production before 2015 so India could have to wait till then and by that time Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka and Chevrolet Trax could also be launched in India.
