Peugeot 207 and Peugeot 508 to debut French carmaker's 2nd innings
Peugeot motors will be starting its second innings in India at the Auto Expo 2012 on January 5 the coming year and in a grand manner. The French biggie auto player will be unveiling a whole fleet of cars to woo the Indian car buyers this time. And the Auto Expo is the best place to give it a start. However, India will have to wait till 2014 when Peugeot will actually start producing cars at its Gujarat facility. Initially, the product line up slated of India will include a hatchback Peugeot 207 and a sedan Peugeot 508. These could be launched next year in the form of completely built units.

Mr. Frederic Fabre, M D of PSA Peugeot Citroen, and Peugeot India Vice President Mr. Thierry Poirat will be chairing the occasion of the official launch of the brand in India and they will also be in tete-a-tete with the national and international press. Notably it is almost a month ago that Peugeot had laid the foundation stone of its manufacturing plant situated in Gujarat where the Peugeot cars in India will be produced. In the meantime, Peugeot will be focusing on the areas where it should build its dealer network.

There has been quite many spy shots of these two cars hovering on the various internet portals and those in Pune may have personally spotted one of these two Peugeot cars for India at some place or the other. Actually, these two debut offerings are in the test phase and it is said that an independent agency is undergoing tests to make sure that the Peugeot cars are well acclimatized to Indian road conditions so that it has no lacunae in being called as fully made for India. Primarily these two cars will be brought to India as CBUs and then after the company starts production at its site these will be offered as completely knocked down units or these could be fully made in India.
