PM Modi's Vision About EV's
Recently the country’s leading car manufacturing company, the Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited, celebrated the 40 years of Suzuki’s partnership with the people of India’. With this, the carmaker also got the foundation stone of its manufacturing unit for batteries of electric vehicles in Hansalpur, Gujarat and the electric vehicle manufacturing unit in Kharkhoda, Haryana, laid by the honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister said that India is dynamically shifting towards electric vehicles and the future of vehicles powered with electric batteries is bright. The Prime Minister briefed the incentives like making the process of applying for a loan to buy an electric vehicle, allowing rebates in income tax on the purchase of electric vehicles, etc being offered by the government to encourage people for the adoption of electric vehicles. According to him, “It is a certainty that with the strengthening of supply, demand and ecosystem, the EV sector is going to progress”.
Moving added, PM Modi added, that to boost the supply, the government is soon to introduce PLI schemes for the manufacturers of automobile components. In his words, the country is slowly but steadily progressing towards the use of electric vehicles. However, the demand for two and three-wheelers electric vehicles is higher than for four-wheelers. The electric car manufacturers are now coming ahead with new models and ideas. According to industry experts, with the introduction of encouraging incentives not only the cost of electric vehicles will come down, with the introduction of technically advanced batteries will reduce. Prime Minister also talked about the introduction of the battery swapping policy in the Union Budget for 2022-23.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the contribution of Maruti Suzuki India Limited to the growth of the automotive sector in the country.
